Where to base yourselves, how to pace the week and the practical details that make Tenerife easier with children.
Tenerife is an easy family destination when the base matches your children and your holiday style. The south has the most reliable resort-weather pattern, broad hotel choice and quick access to beaches and major attractions. The north is greener and more local, but the weather is more variable and some days work better as sightseeing than pool days.
For younger children I would prioritise a walkable resort, a short transfer, a pool you will actually use and a beach with easy access. For older children and teenagers, the balance shifts toward water parks, boat trips, hiking, snorkelling and having enough restaurants or evening life within walking distance.
Choose the right rhythm before the hotel

Do less, but make the days different
A good family week rarely needs seven headline attractions. Alternate a big day such as Siam Park, Teide or a boat trip with a beach, pool or easy town day. That gives children recovery time and gives you room to adjust for wind, cloud, tiredness or a late night.
For Teide, remember that altitude and strong UV can make the high mountain environment feel very different from the coast. Pack layers, water and sun protection, and check current access conditions before leaving. For boat trips, choose an operator that follows the Canary Islands' responsible whale-watching rules rather than selecting only on price.
Small decisions prevent big holiday friction
