Starmus VIII starts next week: plan Tenerife and La Palma separately

Starmus runs from 17–22 October 2026 across Tenerife and La Palma. Check the event location, ticket type and inter-island journey before building your holiday around it.

The dates are confirmed; the trip still needs planning

Tenerife’s October visitors have a science-and-music festival to plan around next week. The organiser confirms Starmus VIII for 17–22 October 2026, with events on Tenerife and La Palma. This is a useful addition to a holiday itinerary, but the two-island label matters: attending the Tenerife programme does not automatically put you in the right place for the closing day. Choose the sessions you actually want before booking accommodation or transport.

What is scheduled on Tenerife

The official programme places the opening concert and medals ceremony in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 17 October at 19:00. Brian May’s official announcement names Andrea Bocelli, Brian May and Sarah Brightman for the opening celebration. On 18 October, Rick Wakeman’s Echoes from Black Holes is scheduled at Pirámide de Arona at 20:00. The main conferences are listed there on 19, 20 and 21 October, from 14:00 to 18:00 each day. These are published programme times, not our guarantee of an unchanged running order.

Tickets: a concert and a festival registration are different choices

The organiser offers festival registration and a separate concert-only ticket route. Its registration page lists the opening concert, the conference programme and Rick Wakeman’s performance among the inclusions, with a return transfer from Pirámide de Arona to the opening venue. Read the exact product you are buying; do not assume that a concert ticket includes conferences or every transfer. Check availability, seating, access arrangements and cancellation terms directly before paying. We are not quoting a price or claiming that seats remain available.

The closing day is on La Palma

On 22 October the programme switches to La Palma, with the GTC 108-Minute panel discussion at 15:00 and Space Station Earth closing concert at 19:00. The organiser describes the closing concert as open to the public subject to venue capacity. That is not a reserved place or a promise of entry. If you want to attend, confirm the precise venue and arrangements and check your own inter-island flight or ferry and overnight plan; this article does not establish that transport or accommodation is included.

Stargazing and the rest of your holiday

The Star Party is scheduled for 20 October at 21:30, but the programme does not disclose its location. Wait for the organiser’s joining instructions rather than choosing a meeting point yourself. The Science Camp is also listed in the metropolitan area during the opening days; verify its exact location and admission arrangements separately. For an ordinary beach holiday, you can consider one event rather than the whole festival. Compare the event address with your hotel and plan the return journey, especially after an evening performance.

Before you book

Confirm the island, date, venue and ticket product for each event. Leave room for an inter-island journey if La Palma is part of your plan, and check the return leg as carefully as the outward one. Ask the organiser about accessibility or language needs rather than assuming every session suits your group. This report was checked on 9 October against the organiser’s current programme and Brian May’s official announcement; it is source-based reporting, not a first-hand visit. Older early-bird wording on the website is not proof that a discount still applies.
