Tenerife’s Young Rent Bonus 2026 is open: applications close 8 October
Young renters in Tenerife have a short application window for up to €6,000 in housing support. Here are the dates, limits and documents worth checking before you apply.
The Canary Islands Government opened applications for the Bono Alquiler Joven 2026–2027 on 18 September. The deadline is 8 October 2026 at 23:59, and the scheme can provide €250 a month for up to 24 months — a maximum of €6,000 for an eligible applicant.
Tenerife has an unusually direct stake in this round. The total programme budget is €12.878 million, including €10.6 million from Spain’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda and €2.278 million from island councils. The Cabildo de Tenerife contributes €1.9 million to the 2026 call.
The headline eligibility is aimed at people aged 18 to 35 who are legally resident or staying in Spain, have or can formalise a rental agreement for their habitual home in the Canary Islands, and meet the income limits. The general income ceiling is three times the 2025 IPREM, with higher limits of four or five times IPREM for specified large-family, disability and terrorism-victim categories. The official rent ceiling is €900 a month for a dwelling or €450 a month for a room, across all Canary Islands municipalities. The subsidy is paid after rent payments are justified, normally in six-month blocks; the government also sets out how eligible retroactive periods can be handled when the required receipts are provided.
Applications are accepted electronically and in person, but the government recommends the electronic procedure. If you intend to apply, prepare your rental contract, identification/residency information, household and income details, and rent-payment evidence early. This is a live grant process, not a permanent entitlement. Do not assume that being 18–35 automatically qualifies you, and do not wait until the final afternoon if you can avoid it.
